Principal Investigator, Mathematical Data Science Lab
Professor, Mathematics, VCUarts Qatar
Ryad Ghanam is a full professor of mathematics at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. Dr. Ghanam’s area of expertise is using the theory of Lie algebras to solve partial differential equations, especially equations that have applications in mathematical modeling. Dr. Ghanam has published more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and supervised and co-supervised many Ph.D. students in the VCU Richmond campus. Over the past few years, Dr Ghanam has been focusing on the applications of statistics in mathematical modeling. Dr. Ghanam has presented his work in very prestigious conferences locally and internationally.
Dr Ghanam has worked at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar’s faculty team since 2014 after extensive teaching experience in the United States. Over his many years of teaching he has taught courses from the introductory to the doctoral level.
His research spans the spectrum, from purely theoretical to applied. In theoretical works he focuses on Symmetries in Lie Algebras and solutions to Fractional Partial Differential Equations. On the applied side he is interested in disease modeling and monitoring, machine learning techniques for relating metabolites and proteomics to heart disease and design of experiments for fitting complex models. He is regularly invited to give presentations at international conferences regarding his research.
