2024On December 16th, the second iteration of the colloquium 'Materiality of Migration in the Indian Ocean & Global Asia: Artifacts, Self-Fashioning, Belonging' will take place at the Manetti Shrem Museum in Davis, California. This is the fruit of our wonderful collaboration with Dr. Nicole Ranganath and the Department of Middle East/South Asia Studies Program at University of California Davis. The organization has been supported by Anthropology and Religious Studies, History, Art History and the Global Tea Initiative at UC Davis. We are extremely grateful to the Manetti Shrem Museum for their invaluable support in the realization of this event, and to the Doha-based ARAK Collection for their funding in supporting the screening of the short film Dongducheon New Town by Che Onejoon, and the participation of the artist.
Join us for an inspiring conference program featuring groundbreaking presentations by leading scholars and innovators across diverse fields, all exploring the dynamic intersections of mobility, migration, and materiality.
