Managing Director, Embrace Doha
Shaima Sherif is a trained archaeologist and public engagement specialist currently residing in Qatar. She has spent the last ten years dedicating her time to her passion for public engagement in the heritage sector through her professional roles and personal time. Her research interests lie in how indigenous communities feel about their tangible heritage and, more recently, intangible heritage.
Her current research is finding ways to revive Sadu weaving- a protected intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO through gallery curation, workshops, and ways to economically empower weavers through Embrace Doha’s concept store. As managing director and partner of Embrace Doha, her current position oversees the training, curatorial, research, and day-to-day operations of the business. Embrace Doha is a small cultural consultancy with big ambitions to change the way communities, schools, and tourists interact with Qatari heritage and culture.
